HISTORICAL BACKGROUND
Sagay City Division was created a separate division from the provincial Division of Negros Occidental in November 1997. it now enjoys more fully the benefits of decentralization, such as more relevant, timely, need-based policy making process and implementation. It is strongly supported not only by the local government units but by well-meaning socio-civic infrastructure.
Presently there are 834 public school teachers spread out among the 52 elementary with three districts, four main high schools; 6 extension high schools, and 5 integrated schools. The total enrolment is 29,134. the The Division takes pride in its well-equipped School of the Future (SOF) at Alfredo A. MaraƱon, Sr., and it's Division leader school, Sagay National High School.
